This big, strong pacing gelding raced 39 times over three years, but was’t earning enough to continue racing.  He came to us in 2007, arrived one day and left the next to pull a surrey for Sauder Historical Village.  He spent two seasons hauling tourists around the rendition village, across a covered bridge, and past the barnyard animals.  Once each season, for an unknown reason, Tom had a meltdown and kicked the surrey.  The Village ask us to keep an eye out for a replacement.  Once came in so we switched them out.  Tom has been ridden a handful of times and proves to be as calm and solid as expected.  He is all trot in a plain snaffle, but can learn to rack, if desired, as shown in his video.  He isn’t accustomed to a leverage bit, but at least you can see the rack is there.  Tom has an old bowed tendon.  He raced with it and has two years away from the track, so it shouldn’t be an issue.  Tom is rich in life experiences for his young age.  He is big, strong, well mannered, and suitable for just about any discipline.  He’d be striking in Dressage, Foxhunting, Mounted Patrol, or Historical Reenactments.  He’s thoroughly broke for pleasure driving and is certainly a candidate for Combined Driving.  He’s quiet enough for trails, family pleasure, and 4-H.  Tom is a real gem wrapped in beautiful paper.
