Standing in the gap for retired racehorses providing a safety-net through rehabilitation, education, & placement in qualified, caring homes.

Once in a lifetime is someone so blessed to have a horse like Classy Man. He is one of the most accommodating, conscientious, wise horses that’s ever come through this program. We’ve placed over 3,000 so that’s a very select group. Classy raced 219 times over eight years (winning 43) and earned $175,000. His owner/trainer thought so much of Classy that he personally made a 500 mile round trip to bring him to New Vocations. That trainer was virtually assuring that, not only would Classy have an excellent home, but that some family would receive a life long treasure. Thank you Mickey Burke for spending an entire day of your valuable time (leading training family in the nation) securing a guality future for this exceptional gelding! Classy must have been special from the beginning, since his name fits him so well. He has a pretty head with large, kind eyes, a long neck and balanced body. Classy is naturally gaited, and though his legs show the wear and tear of many battles, he moves sound on them. Hayley revealed the amazing potential this horse has as a pleasure mount.
She said, “I was calling him lover boy the whole time he was with us. He has personality, looks and movement. He is an extremely smooth naturally gaited horse. He would go faster or slower, depending on what you wanted. I even supervised two beginners on him, and he acted like an old lesson horse. He was forgiving and tolerant, basically acted like he could handle about anything. I took him by the cows, and even though I could tell he wasn’t comfortable to go back in the holding pen, he still went when I asked. He stood there shaking a bit, but didn’t move until I told him. I think Classy is calm and obedient enough for children and inexperienced riders.” My deepest respect for this gelding surfaced when I was shipping him home from Hayley’s. I loaded him and drove five miles to pick up a second horse. He stood quietly while we loaded the second horse, drove a few miles, unloaded the second horse, and stood around visiting for 30 minutes. Classy never made a sound. Then I bought groceries at Kroger, picked up fencing supplies at TSC, and some supplies at ACE Hardware. Classy was so quiet, I’m sure none of the people walking by even knew a horse was in the trailer. I got home and put away the ice cream and groceries before I got around to Classy. He simply didn’t complain in any way, shape, or form. I’ve handled and shipped racehorses literally thousands of times. Most are very accommodating, but Classy is solid gold.
