Sliver and Onions, better known as “Simon” around the farm, is an up-beat young gelding that not only boasts amazing athleticism, but incredible good looks too! He has been properly let down since his last race in May of 2015 and is ready for his next career. Simon raced 12 times with wins at Saratoga, Aqueduct, and Parx Racing and earned $196,854 during his career. Simon is a very intelligent horse that has enjoyed transitioning back into work.
He learns things quickly and seems to enjoy having a job. Simon has 3 beautiful gaits and is a comfortable, smooth ride. He is light in the bridle and carries himself well. Simon is still learning how to move off the leg, and at this time he is more of a “push” ride. He is a confident horse and can still be a bit of a handful at times, but he is a ton of fun to work with and ride. This horse could go in any direction with an experienced rider and shows so much promise for a second career.
Simon loves attention, he has a playful boyish attitude. He is currently barefoot and stands well for the farrier. He enjoys his turn out time in a private paddock next to his buddies. He is a mild cribber controlled with a collar. He has no limitations moving forward to his next career.
Simon was came to New Vocations via NYTHA’s TAKE THE LEAD Program. We are very grateful for their support.
