Did you go see your horse before you adopted him or did you adopt him sight unseen?

I saw Big City News (Tokyo) while he was on layup recovering from a bowed tendon. A friend of mine told me to go check him out–she knows my type of horse. I was really impressed with how quiet he was while being on total stall rest.

What discipline(s) do you plan to show your horse in at the Makeover?

Field Hunter and possibly Dressage.

What is your training routine like?

Right now we do lots of walk, some trot sets and stopping and standing quietly. We are also working on moving off the leg and turns on the haunches/forehand.

What is your greatest accomplishment (to date) with your horse?

So far the improvement to his manners.  He’s generally a quiet guy but can be pushy and mouthy.

What are your goals with your horse?

I don’t really have any, aside from making his retraining slow and stress free. Eventually I’ll hunt with him, take him to some schooling shows and trail ride.

What is your favorite thing about your horse?

His ears!!!  He has the CUTEST ears.  When he relaxes, they flop around like a lop eared bunny. Think George William’s mare Rocher.  Cracks me up every time.

What quirks does your horse have?

He LOVES to have things in his mouth. He will hold a brush, or a whip or his lead rope. He also enjoys decorating the arena by moving every cone, barrel, ball, bucket, etc.
