Did you go see your horse before you adopted him or did you adopt him sight unseen?

From the time I saw his post on FB to having him paid for, signed for and shipping arrangements made was less than 15 minutes! The process was funny and now he’s here! Thankfully my husband is cool with me arranging for a new horse without first consulting him!

What discipline(s) do you plan to show your horse in at the Makeover?

I will know more at the end of March after we have his neck xrayed. Right now my plan is likely 2 of the following – eventing, dressage or competitive trail. I was going to do working ranch but cows intimidate him. (It’s actually cute, he’s not at all scared of them but they don’t give him any respect and end up chasing him around the field!)

What is your training routine like?

He loves to go for long slow hacks and has been off the property a few times to school cross country. He’s a horse that enjoys a job but knows how to be chill about it.

What is your greatest accomplishment (to date) with your horse?

Really just having him happy and enjoying his new life is an accomplishment. After 10 years of racing he’s taken to non-racing very well I think.

What are your goals with your horse?

Depends on what we find in his neck. If that’s manageable and the vets think he will be safe and comfortable jumping and doing dressage, then I would like to get back into eventing and maybe do the AECs next year.

What is your favorite thing about your horse?

His adorableness.

What quirks does your horse have?

Surprisingly few! He’s rather opinionated about grooming, but very easy to ride and loves his mints.
