Standing in the gap for retired racehorses providing a safety-net through rehabilitation, education, & placement in qualified, caring homes.

Chief raced only raced 3 times. He’s very laid back and sensible for his age, he’s easy to handle, clip, shoe etc and quite a character. Loves his treats and his food. Beautiful head and kind eye. He has been turned out with other horses and is fine. Even with little transitional training he is very easy to ride. Very smooth and flowing, light in the mouth. His canter is to die for. He’s been ridden around the farm alone and does fantastic, does like to trail ride. Learns quickly and is very smart. Does not have any vices. Still needs more weight so will need feeding 3 times per day at the moment and is super slick so will need blankets. He has great potential for hunter flat classes. The vet said after looking at his records that he could do some small occasional jumps but would need to be monitored so his knee didn’t get sore. He had chips removed from his knee, was rehabbed and returned to run his last race at Saratoga in July. He was not competive and the owners opted to retire him. So far there has been no signs of soreness. Chief should be suitable for anytype of flat work.
