Standing in the gap for retired racehorses providing a safety-net through rehabilitation, education, & placement in qualified, caring homes.

This older and wiser guy just retired from the track the end of November. He raced an amazing 53 times and retired sound. Tex was a barn favorite at the track and has quickly become one again here at New Vocations. He has is a kind soul who truly wants to please. Tex has adjusted well to turn out with another horse. He has been started back under saddle and is very easy to handle and ride. He has a soft mouth, naturally wants to go in a frame, and nice fluid gaits. Walk, trots, canters around the arena like he has been doing it his whole life. He keeps a steady pace, doesn’t toss his head, and is very focused. With is shorter back and uphill build we feel Tex would be an excellent dressage prospect. As can be seen in his photo he does have a minor subluxation of his left front P1 which he raced on for over an year. He has been x-rayed and vetted sound for any type of flat work with occasional recreational jumping. Tex has no vices and is ready for his new home.
