This is a tall, sound, regal, young mare with a super disposition.   She trained at two and raced lightly on the pace this year at three, but wasn’t competitive.  Dot knows her trainer, and Yankee has always been treated with kindness.   She has excellent manners both on and off the track.   After a few rides, it’s evident Yankee is going to make a wonderful pleasure mount.   Yankee preferred to trot at the track.  She trotted in a snaffle with the young ladies, Haylie and Krystal, who broke her to ride.   Haylie said there is a gait in there if someone wants to develop it.  (I know she’ll gait because I saw her pacing in the field right after we pulled her front shoes.) The first part of the video was taken late in the day and is very dark.  It shows Yankee out on trails, crossing a creek, and moving through cattle.   Haylie shared, “Yankee is a great horse.  I even had one of the guys ride her and rope off her.  She did awesome!  At first the sound scared her, nothing bad just a quick planting of the feet and ears perked.   By the time he was done, she was letting him rope off of her at a trot and was stopping into the ground.   Show Yankee what you want, and you don’t have to show her again.  She is going to make someone an awesome horse regardless of discipline.  She could do it all!”   Well, Yankee has been passed over all winter because her head is rather homely.  Not every horse is beautiful, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t terrific horses. We’re waiving the adoption fee on this exceptionally nice mare to encourage someone to give her a chance.
